Laravel Forge Alternative with Free Tier and AI
Molixa Forge is a VPS management panel for developers who ship Laravel, WordPress, Node.js, and static sites from the same dashboard. Free tier, built-in AI assistant, modern dark UI, and honest pricing from $0 a month.
Quick summary
Who is this for?
Teams that outgrew a single-stack tool. Agencies that run WordPress for clients and Laravel for their own product. Solo developers who want AI help with server work without giving up manual control. Anyone who paid for Laravel Forge, loved most of it, but wanted a free tier and modern UX on top.

Give credit
What Laravel Forge does well
Forge is why a lot of us stopped SSHing into servers at 3 a.m. It earned its reputation. Here is where it shines.
Laravel-specific wizards
Quick site setup, deploy scripts that assume artisan commands, Nginx configs tuned for Laravel out of the box. If your only stack is PHP and Laravel, the workflow in Forge is boring in the best possible way.
Reliable for PHP workloads
Years of production use across thousands of Laravel apps. The deploy pipeline rarely breaks in ways you did not cause yourself. Support answers questions from a team that actually ships PHP.
Mature provider integrations
Deep hooks into AWS, DigitalOcean, Linode, Hetzner, Vultr. Push-button server creation, firewall rules synced to the provider, SSH keys managed across a fleet. You rarely leave Forge to touch the cloud console.
Gaps to know about
Where Forge falls short
No free tier means you pay before you try. No AI assistant means you still Google flag syntax and copy commands from Stack Overflow. Node.js, WordPress, and static-site flows feel bolted on rather than built in, so a mixed-stack agency ends up cobbling things together. The UI works fine but has the classic feel of a tool designed a decade ago.
How Molixa Forge fills gaps
What we built differently
A permanent free tier so you can test on a $5 VPS before paying. An AI assistant that writes and runs shell commands with approval and rollback. First-class installers for WordPress, Node.js with PM2, and static sites on top of the Laravel workflow. A modern dark UI with a command palette and real-time log tailing.
Decision guide
Who should switch
Not everyone should move. Here is the honest filter.
Switch to Molixa Forge if you are
- A Node.js team tired of manual PM2 and Nginx setup on every box
- An agency juggling WordPress for clients and Laravel for internal tools
- A budget-conscious developer who wants to test on a free plan first
- Anyone who wants AI help with server work without giving up manual control
- A team that files server work under "stuff I Google once a week"
Stay on Laravel Forge if you are
- A Laravel-only shop happy with the current workflow
- Already deep in the Forge plus Envoyer plus Nova ecosystem
- Running a fleet where retraining the team would cost more than the new features
- Comfortable with the current price and feature set
The short version
Three reasons teams switch
01
Free to try
One server, one site, no credit card, no trial timer. Run it on a $5 VPS and see if it fits.
02
AI that ships
Our AI runs shell commands with approval, logs everything, and rolls back on one click.
03
Every stack, one panel
Laravel sites next to WordPress sites next to a Next.js app on the same server.
FAQ
Common questions about switching
Is Molixa Forge really free?
Yes. The free tier includes one server and one site with no credit card and no trial expiry. You pay only when you add more servers, more sites, or upgrade for the Claude and GPT tier of the AI assistant. The free plan is a permanent plan, not a 14-day trial.
Can I migrate from Laravel Forge?
Yes. Add your existing VPS to Molixa Forge as an "existing server", paste the root SSH key, and we detect your Nginx sites, PHP versions, and database users. Your Forge sites keep running during the move. Most teams cut over in a single afternoon.
Does Molixa Forge work with Laravel?
Yes. We install Nginx plus PHP-FPM 8.3 by default, run composer install, artisan migrate, config:cache, and queue workers through Supervisor. Horizon is a one-click install. Per-site PHP version selector covers 7.4 through 8.3 side by side.
What VPS providers does Molixa Forge support?
Any VPS you can SSH into. We are tested against Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, AWS Lightsail, Google Cloud, and Oracle Free Tier. There is no provider lock-in. If it runs Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 with a root key, Molixa Forge will manage it.
How is the AI assistant different from ChatGPT in a browser tab?
The AI does not just describe commands. It writes them, shows you the plan, runs them over your SSH connection after you approve, and logs everything to an audit trail. Rollback is one click on any action. Secrets in your prompts get redacted before they leave your server.
Is the UI really better than Laravel Forge?
Better is subjective, but the facts are: dark mode by default, a command palette with keyboard shortcuts, real-time log tailing in the browser, and a file manager with AI code edits. Forge has a clean and familiar interface that many teams love. Try both free and pick what feels right.
